Kierstin Buchner is a professional food stylist based in Portland, Oregon. Kierstin first fell in love with the culinary arts in her mother's kitchen, helping stir the pot and picking leaves off the bay laurel tree to flavor soups and stews. Later, she completed a Bachelor of Arts in Business from the University of Puget Sound. While the degree helped feed her intellect, it did not provide professional fulfillment. After some reflection, she decided to pursue her passion for the culinary arts through training at the Le Cordon Bleu in Portland, Oregon.
Following school, she joined the culinary team on the Food Network show, "Everyday Italian" starring Giada de Laurentiis. This opportunity provided a unique, behind-the-scenes peek into the exciting world of food created for TV. Soon, the culinary producer recognized Kierstin's talent and began sharing food styling "tricks of the trade". When Kierstin returned to her native Portland, she was invited to cook in the upscale, open kitchen of Vino Paradiso, an artful restaurant and wine bar in the Pearl District. Kierstin soon parlayed the culinary skills and experience she gained through television into food styling.
Kierstin styles food for all media - television, commercials, print, and web - for local, national and international accounts.
Kierstin is grateful for food stylist Andy Turner, who showed her how to create long-stemmed strawberries in the middle of winter, and for photographer Zach Lewis, for his talent and generosity.
Kierstin most recently wrote and hosted "Cooking from A to Zest", a cooking series that is like having your own private in-home instructor, teaching you a foundation of techniques and skills. The series provides a step-by-step guide to planning, preparing, and cooking like a pro.
